I can say the following: look at your entire room appearance. Does this console match the room decor by style or by color? If not, it could be a problem to fit it in your elegant room, especially if the rest of decor is in the one single style that is different from that of the console and if there is no other black items in the room. But even then, you can solve the problem by adding a couple of furniture items that would complement this black console. There could be a couple of stools, or armchair, or a small accent table.
