Need Decorating Ideas
for Wood Blinds

Question:
Our interior trim is white and we currently have white mini-blinds on our windows. We want to change to wood blinds, but we are not sure what works since we are not interior decorators.
We are planning to replace carpet for wood flooring (walnut or oak) in the future. We are thinking of darker blinds like walnut or dark oak. Walls are earth tones. Any suggestions?

Wood blinds along with wooden floor will definitely add value and richness to your interior. The same or close color for both flooring and window treatment would give elegant finished look to the room. However, remember that large dark color spaces will make your room visually smaller and will absorb a good portion of the sunlight coming into it. If you are sure there is nothing to concern, go to your desired colors. Otherwise consider lighter wood tones, like natural, honey or cherry.
You may enhance your windows look by adding some colorful elements to your wood blinds, such as decorative cloth ladder tapes, fabric window valances and even beautiful drapes. These elements could create a special mood in the room, depending on fabric color and ornament. Soft pastel tones will bring relaxing atmosphere, while bright colors would create some dramatic effect.
